Following the success of the 60 person live-in fencing camp at Kardinia College in 2009, coaches from VRI Fencing Club, in conjunction with coaches and mentors from around Australia, are running the Ultimate Fencing Camp 2010. Held over 9-22 December, it is open to all developing, sub-elite, elite and international fencers from Australia and New Zealand, in all three weapons. The 14 days are full day and evening programs. It is intense and designed to test participants physically and mentally. In addition to drills, skills, structured bouting, competition, teams matches, there will be lectures, workshops, presentations, video analysis and more. Over 18-22 December a Junior Development Camp will also be held. This is for children and teenages who have had 1-3 yrs experience but are keen and would like to progress further. UFC and JDC will be held at the State Fencing Centre, Arden Street, North Melbourne. Coaches and mentors include David Mok – National Foil Coach, Elli Wellings, Nicolae Mihaelescu, Scott Arnold, Rudi Lewith and others. Special guest attending the camp as mentor, program director, and presenter is multiple World Champion Sergei Golubitsky, widely regarded as the greatest foilist of the latter part of the 20th Century.
