ACT Mozzies ranked second in Friendship Cup

The ACT Mozzies – our U13/U11 and U9 fencers were the second largest contingent after hosts NSW in the Friendship Cup and NSW U13/U11/U9 Championships in Marrickville Nov 22-24.  It was the biggest Friendship Cup ever, and is probably the largest and best tournament for U13s in the World.

This year ACT had 3 times as many fencers make the trip as last year and had teams and competitors in all 3 weapons and in both Boys and girls categories.  The Mozzies won Gold in U13 Boys Epee, U13 Girls Epee, U11 Boys Epee, came third in U13 Boys Sabre and 4th in U13 Girls Foil. On Sunday Genevieve Gilarski won Gold in the U13 Girls Epee (and came second overall),
Frida Meares won silver in U11 Girls Epee, and  Hugo Curtis and Marlow Meares won silver and bronze respectively in the U11 Boys Epee.  All the team put in a great effort and really enjoyed themselves. A big thankyou to  Team managers, Letitia and Gordon, and our wonderful coaches, Thompson, James and Chris. Results for Day 2 (ind State Championships) are on the NSWFA website.
