ACT Fencing hosted the National Open Fencing Championships as well as the National and Oceania Veteran Championships at the AIS from December 7-11. A High Performance Training camp for the national teams and other elite fencers was also held at the AIS alongside the tournament.
This is the first time ACTFA has hosted this tournament and the event was an outstanding success. There were over 400 entries competing in 19 different competitions. It couldn’t have succeeded without the outstanding effort and dedication of the many ACT volunteers, the DT crew, and the referees.
Congratulations to all the Australian Champions of 2012 and to NSW as the winners of the Cyclone Cup. Well done to all the ACT fencers (over 30) that competed at the Championships – many for the first time! The tournament will return to the AIS next December – see you there!
