ACT Fencing is hosting the 2012 Club-level Referee course. It is aimed at fencers that have been fencing at club for over one year in most cases, and covers all 3 weapons. The aim is to give the fencer/referee a better understanding of the role of the referee. Fencers that complete a Referee Accreditation receive a discount on their ACTFA membership of up to $40 per year for 4 years so it is well worth doing. You don’t need to be a good referee to start the course, but it will help you enjoy refereeing more and will possibly improve you fencing if you understand how refereeing works.
