ACT State Open and Novice Championships

Congratulations to the medalists from the 2014 State Open and Novice Championship held at the new venue Tuggeranong Archery Centre on the Canberra Day Long Weekend. Well done also to all those that competed for the first time, and to those that achieved Personal Bests. And a special thankyou to all those that helped run and set up this very high quality event. It was the largest State tournament in terms of entries in our ACTFA history, but ran very smoothly. Money raised from sales at the canteen will be used to assist coaches with costs involved with interstate travel and expenses.
2014 Tri State Tournament

ACT Fencers invites all young fencers to compete in the U13 u11 and U9 Fencing tournament on Saturday April 12 at St Gregory's Primary School Hall in Macquoid St Queanbeyan. This year we have added u13 Sabre and U9 Foil. The U15 comps from last year will be held on a separate weekend. The philosophy behind this tournament is to provide a friendly relaxed and easy tournament for very young fencers to experience fencing out side club. Please read the attached flier.
Womens Social Event in April

Women of the ACT Fencing Community are invited to a social walk around Lake Burley Griffin Central Basin. Please read the info sheet attached below. This event is free of charge. All women and girls associated with fencing in the ACT and
surrounds are welcome, whether ACTFA affiliated or not. Children welcome if required, but will be the responsibility of their
parent/guardian.
Southern Highlands Tournament

Southern Highlands Fencing Academy hosted a tournament on Sunday 16 March. Regional tournaments are a great way for ACT fencers to experience competitions in a friendly, relaxed manner outside the ACT. Details are in the attached information sheet below. PLEASE NOTE: this tournament is NOT part of the ACTFA ranking system!
ACTFA Training Camp

The next ACTFA Training Camp will take place on Sunday 16th March at the ANU. The camp will run from 11am to 4pm and will concentrate upon fitness training and footwork with some time for fencing.
Fee for the camp is $25 and participants should bring lunch and plenty of water.

Referees wanted for Canberra Day competition

Can you help at Tournament on 8-9? March

This year, we will be running a canteen at the Canberra Day tournament on March 8-9. The aim is to raise money that can be put in a fund to help coaches that travel with ACT fencing groups to interstate comps (so far, at their own expense). We also need helpers to set up at the Archery Center on Friday night from 7pm, before the tournament starts . See you there!
Early Bird entry finishes this week so please get your entries in asap and save money. You don't have to pay by Credit Card - please fill out the form as far as you can, then you can pay during the week at club or you can pay by cash on the day.

2014 Season Opener supporting Cancer Research

Many thanks to the ANU Fencing Club for donating half of the Entry fees from last nights Season Opener comp to Cancer research. Thankyou also to the large number of fencers that supported the initiative and competed. Congratulations to Katrina Cornelly and Jeremy Shelley on their victories in the Womens and Mens Epee. This comp is part of the 2014 Season Rankings. You can find the full results and the Rankings Policy in the Main Menu (right).
