The Australian U20s and Secondary School Championships will be held in Melbourne, Victoria October 6 -10 2010. Swordplay FC invites Foilists to their Foil Club comp this Thursday September 26.The venue is the Woden Basketball Courts.  Registration closes at 6.55pm. Entry fee is $2 for Swordplay members and $10 for non-Swordplay members.

The following week on September 1, Lancaster FC is hosting an U17/U15/U13 Foil Round Robin tournament at Lancaster Hall in Barton. Fencing will be electric. Please arrive promptly at 6.30pm to register, warm-up and get ready.  Entry is free!

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – ATHLETES
The Australian Fencing Federation (AFF) calls for nominations from athletes for selection to represent Australian at the 2010 Senior World Championships. A subsequent call for nominations for Officials will be made soon. Further information about these Championships can be found on the event website http://www.escrime-2010.com/.

ATHLETES
The selection criteria for the 2010 Senior World Championships are detailed in the AFF Selection Policy available from the AFF website at www.ausfencing.org. NSW FA  is hosting a 'Regatta Weekend' on on 18th/19th September and there is something for everyone!. The weekend will start at midday on Saturday, at Sydney Uni club, with an armourers course and a referee workshop followed by general fencing where the referee skills can be practiced.  Dinner and a bit of socialising and budget accomodation overnight.  Early start at Marrickville PCYC at 7am for a coaching course and the Novice State Championships at 10am.  There is also a club teams event on that day.  These should finish by mid afternoon which gives a reasonable time to drive home again. The courses and workshops are worth re-accreditation points for Level 1 Coaches at the rate of approx. 1 point per hour.  See the attached flier for details.

The ACTFA Committee is in the process of developing a Strategic Plan for fencing in the ACT, and invites interested fencers and parents of young fencers give feedback via the attached questionaire:

On Day 2 of the ANU Annual Tournament, ANU Club President  won gold in the Mens Open Epee, defeating Tibault Sheppard in the final. Cerri Davis from CDDC was the highest-ranked female fencer.  In the Epee Team competition,  the Engarde Saints beat the ANU team for the first time in many years.

ANU fencers dominated the first day of competition at the ANU Annual Foil Tournament.  Nigel Nutt won the Mens Individual Foil,  Rosetta Lee won the Womens Individual Foil and the ANU Team beat Engarde in the Foil Team event.  Full Results are in the 2010 Competition Results in the Main Menu. The ACTFA rankings have now been updated to include the Tournament results. Congratulations to all medallists and all the fencers.
