ACT Fencing

Print
In October 2009 Susan Lemar and Garry Webster, representing ACTFA met with Mary Porter AM MLA (Labour member for Ginninderra) to talk about the sport of fencing in the ACT. A wide range of topics were discussed, in particular  the constrain that a lack of venues has on the growth of our sport. Mary is not stranger to Fencing, she generously gave her time and attended an ACT Tournament a few years back. As a follow-on from these discussions, we have exciting developments in 2010 and beyond. ACTFA continues to progress the proposal for a permanent facility as part of the Lyneham Sports Centre redevelopment. Plus was have been asked to contribute to discussions with the ACT Sports and Recreations, along with other sports, to develop a policy to enable access for Sports to School Facilities. As you can see the issue of venues is getting wide attention.
