Swordplay Foil Comp this Thursday

Swordplay is hosting a Foil comp this coming Thursday June 24 starting at 7pm (so get there early to register and be ready).  All levels  of fencing are welcome-even first timers.  Points from this comp are valid int he ACTFA Rankings.

The Beginner course will go ahead as usual.  There will be pistes for fencers that don't wish to compete  or who want  to do epee/sabre.

 

No Fencing at Swordplay on July 8!

Swordplay fencers:  please note!  There will be no fencing at Swordplay on Thursday July 8, due the to venue being booked for a concert.  Fencing will resume the following Thursday, July 15.
 

ACTFA Club-Level Referee Course in July

All ACT Fencers are urged to sign up for the 2010 ACTFA Club level Referee Course, to be held  Saturday/Sunday July 17/18 at MacKillop College Wanniassa Campus.  Please read the attached flier  for details-including times and costs, and contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to register.  The aim is to help all fencers improve their own fencing, by understanding the  rules of the sport better and to improve consistency in refereeing.  Parents are also welcome and encouraged to participate.

2010 Under 15 and Cadet (U17) Australian Championships

Entries for the 2010 Under 15 and Cadet (U17) Australian Championships, to be held at the Borgia Community Recreation Centre (Steel Park Leisure Centre), from Saturday 3rd July to Wednesday 7th July 2010 (inclusive), are due with ACTFA by Friday 11th June 2010.

Payment can be made in person to Gordon on online by Direct Deposit  into the ACTFA Bank Account  before Friday 11 June.

All participating fencers must be affiliated to ACTFA. Please note there are certain equipment requirements for National Tournaments.  To find out more, please go to the AFF website (see link in the Main Menu under Australian Fencing Organisations).Entry fees are $60 per individual entry for each event. Late entry fees of $120 per individual entry for each event will be charged for entries received after the closing date and up to roll call on the day of the event.An additional surcharge will apply to cover the cost of extra referees if more than 4 ACT fencers enter the tournament.

Learn to fence at Swordplay Fencing Club

Swordplay Fencing Club is hosting a Beginner Course starting Thursday 27 May.  Please read the attached flier which has details on the venue, cost and contact details. The course is open to anyone over 12 years of age and includes equipment and 3 months 4 weeks of memberships with the club after the 6-week course.  No previous experience or skill-levels are needed.

Swordplay Annual Tourrnament 2010

The ACTFA rankings have been updated following last weekend's Swordplay Annual Tournament (see the link in the Main Menu).   A big 'Thank You! ' to the Swordplay Organisors and especially to the Mary MacKillop College, Wanniassa, for the use of their hall as a venue.   Congratulations to all the winners of the prized "Towels", and it was great to see some good results fromt he Novices.
 

Robyn Chaplin Tournament (AFF #2)

Entries are now being accepted for the Robyn Chaplin Tournament (AFF#2) to be held in Adelaide June 12-14 2010.

Entries can only be made online  using the Entry Form in the Main Menu to the left.  Entries close Thursday May 27.  The preferred payment option is by Direct Deposit (please ensure you name is included in the Reference). Cheques or cash payments can also be accepted by the Treasurer Gordon Christie.

Entries for Open events is $60 per event before May 27. After that date, the entry fee is $120 per event and can only be made at the venue during the tournament.  Entry for Veterans is $60 for all events.
